I’m 50% sure that my rib is 60% healed.
Ha, figure that one out! The rib only gives me the slightest twinges now. I can still feel the weakness at the area though.
At the gym this morning I felt good enough to try to do some mild jump roping which felt good…until the jump rope broke. I feebly tried to fix it but gave up, maybe it was a good thing considering I probably shouldn’t be pushing my luck quite yet.
So back it was to the ARC trainer, did the “strength” workout and worked up a pretty good sweat. I tried to test my boundaries by stretching to the point when I got a twinge in my rib. I was surprised to find that only a few movements really bothered it. This encouraged me to do some more push ups (kept my stomach/core tight) and also doing a few yoga stretches.
I’m thinking by next week I should be able to do a light run on the treadmill. For as often as I get injured (every few months it seems) it amazes me at how the body heals itself.
I think a big part of my healing process is that I have not been sitting on my butt doing nothing, rather I’ve been in the gym testing the limits of what I could do and adapting the workouts. Always pushing my body right up to the limit, keeping myself active and stretching. You have to be really attuned to you body to recoup this way, listen to it. If it doesn’t want to move a certain way…DONT!!!
