It has now been one week since I have suffered from my separated ribs. The first few days the swelling kept the rib from moving around too much but when it did move it was really uncomfortable, enough to take your breath away for a few minutes. Around day 4-6 the swelling went down but the rib seemed to have more room to move around because it did. The pain was not as severe and it happened mostly with a turning or rotating motion. Bending straight down to pick something of the ground did not bring any pain for example.
I really tried to take it easy and didn’t move around much, no gym, no jiu jitsu training and no unnecessary movements at work. Today on the seventh day, 95% of the soreness to the rib has dissipated and the rib isn’t moving around like it’s trying to learn a new Latin dance. I can almost feel the rib beginning to heal and stitch itself back together. I can feel when the rib doesn’t like certain movements it feels like it’s right on the edge of slipping out.
I did a little research and found out it will most likely be six weeks before I start to feel normal again. My loose plan is to maybe go to the gym on Friday to do a little bit on a stationary bike or some equivalent.
