I went to bed three days ago and didn’t sleep a wink because my skin, especially my legs, were really sensitive and restless. I’m not exactly sure how to describe the restlessness in my legs except to say that I could not get comfortable no matter how many positions I tried.
I made a valiant effort to go to the gym and work as was my usual routine; even though by the morning not only was my skin sensitive but all the muscles and joints in my body had a bone deep ache. I hastily poured myself a cup of coffee for the road in the hopes that it would alleviate my discomfort and headed to the gym.
On the drive over to the gym I could tell that I was not just feeling crappy from a bad nights sleep, I had a difficult time concentrating on the road while driving and I began to have a nagging feeling that this was something worse than a common cold.
At the gym I spoke briefly to a cute woman trainer and I was telling her about my seemly strange symptoms I was having with the sensitive skin and other physical discomforts and to my surprise she enthusiastically piped up and said “I had those exact same symptoms!” I asked her what she did to fix this little problem we shared and she said “all I did was make sure I got enough sleep, drank a lot of water, and took some Ibuprofen.” I was relieved to hear this since it looked like it was going to be a quick fix, maybe a 24 hour bug.
I tried to stretch my sore and aching muscles in the gym but stretching was not helping my muscles nor was I feeling any better overall so I decided to call into work and get some rest.
It never dawned on me the entire time, perhaps because of the conversation with the cute girl trainer that I might have a fever, I can’t remember the last time I actually had a fever and did not even know where my thermometer was.
I should have been clued in, however when I started waking up alternating between being drenched in my own sweat and freezing my butt off. Strange thing is that I never felt like my body temperature was that high, I just felt like I couldn’t get comfortable, like an uncomfortable jittery feeling plus feeling like crap. It also didn’t help that I also had Strep Throat for the first time.
So don’t be an idiot like me, if you have these symptoms you could very well have a fever. Take the necessary steps to relieve the symptoms. I was told by my doctor to take 600 mg of Ibuprofen every 5or 6 hours, preferably Motrin and of course drink lots of water.
